You don't need to have superpowers to be a SUPERHERO!

At the moment, you are all superheroes! Well then again, to me you always are!

You are doing a super job working at your presentations, and I can't wait for you to present your superhero to the class!
Both 6A and 6B will do their presentations during week 14. Next week, make sure to gather all the facts you need, create your power point and practise what you are to say. The more you practise the less you need to focus on your notes. I'm sure you'll all do excellent!

Student's recommendations

During the autumn the pupils in year 6 have been working with individual exercises in English, which will improve their skills. In their work they have come across various websites which they would like to recommend to others.

  • Alfred and Hampus recommend Elevspel.se where you can practise words, phrases and grammar. Did you know that your teacher has created some games here? (Engelska - plural and Oregelbundna verb)
  • Jakob H and Anders are really fond of Lyricstraining where you can practise vocabulary and spelling at the same time as you are listening to really good music.
  • Hannes often practises his weekly words with the help of Glosor.eu which is also available in app store. Create your own account and type in the words. If you have the app you can pracise your words anywhere!
  • Liam, Melker and Emma all like  Learn English Teens where you can practise all different skills and at different levels as well. They have tried the listening and reading comprehensions and think the execises are great.
  • Mea is a fan of Childtopia where you can choose from a whole lot of different stories for kids, listen to them or read them, and finally answer some simple questions on the content. They are like flicking through real story books!
  • Ludvig and Anton A have pracised their English with the help of Read Theory. You read short texts with information about everything from smoothies to sloths and then answer multiple choice questions. You can create your own account to keep track of your progression.
  • Nellie thought Classic Fairytales was a great website. Here you can read the famous stories by the brothers Grimm and Hans Christian Andersen.

Scott of the Antarctic

Family Foster is taking a break

Hope you have had a nice week off school and that you are coming back well rested. This week will be a bit different from what you are used to, much because of the upcoming national tests which will begin during week 46. Hence, Family Foster will be taking a break for two weeks and instead we will focus only on the texts in Happy and preparations for the national tests.

This week we will work with the text Mom, I'm on top of the world on page 8 in your textbook. We will learn more about the amazing achievements of the young Jordan Romero. This American boy was only 13 years old when he climbed the Mount Everest!
Watch the video below and be prepared to tell me what you have learned about Jordan.

There will be no vocabulary test this week, but instead you will, at home, write a short text about an adventure (according to exercise 4 on page 12 in your workbook).
Use the words in the wordbox. They will help you a lot with what to write. Use your imagination to create an exciting adventure story!

English year 6

This week we'll begin watching the series Family Foster. Here you will meet Keith and his daughter Julia as they travel to different English speaking countries. This week we will follow them on their trip to South Africa. While watching we will gather words and phrases which we think might be useful.

We will also begin our preparations for the National tests in English, focusing on the spoken part of the test.
This means no homework this week! But on the other hand I need you to be as active in class as you can be! There is only one way (NO short cuts) to practice speaking English, and that is of course by speaking ;)
